Executive Committee
The Executive Committee responsibilities include:
• Oversees management of United Way of Anderson County to ensure that it operates in a manner that meets the expectations of our donors.
• Provides guidance and direction to UWAC Executive Director
• Aids in setting agenda and prioritizing business issues for full Board
• Coordinates all committee work.
Community Relations/Marketing
The Community Relations/Marketing Committee's responsibilities include:
• Presenting United Way's image to the public
• Building relationships in and with the community
• Communicating the impact United Way’s work has in and on the community
• Educating the public about philanthropy and ways to engage in thoughtful charitable giving
• Working through the media and personal contacts to meet these aims
• Working to recruit new members for the Board of Directors on an ongoing basis
Finance
The Finance Committee’s responsibilities include:
• Oversight of financial transactions
• Development of financial operational guidelines
• Review and approval of monthly financial statements
• Approval of annual budget for the organization, making recommendation to the Board
• Oversight of the annual audit process
Fund Distribution
The Fund Distribution Committee is a standing committee that oversees UWAC Fund Distribution Policies and Procedures. This committee is composed of the Chairs of the seven Fund Distribution Panels and the VP of Fund Distribution. Fund Distribution Panels, consisting of community volunteers, meet each spring to develop funding recommendations to the Board. Their responsibilities include:
Fund Distribution Panels:
• Annually reviews funding applications of community partners
• Meet with representatives from each agency applying for funding
• Evaluate the relative merits of each application
• Makes recommendations on funding levels and technical assistance needs for each agency
Fund Distribution Committee
• Develops and oversees UWAC Fund Distribution Policies and Procedures
• Provides ongoing guidance to staff on issues related to Fund Distribution
• Identifies new applications and develops funding recommendations in conjunction with guidance from Strategic Planning Committee
Strategic Planning
The Strategic Planning Committee is responsible for:
• Developing a statement of strategic initiatives for our United Way.
• Developing action steps with timelines and staff and volunteer responsibilities, to ensure that the plan will be implemented
• Regularly monitoring progress on the strategic plan, and reporting this progress to the Board
• Will release 2010-2020 Strategic Plan at UWAC Annual Meeting in May 2010.
Nomination Committee
The Nomination Committee is responsible for:
• Board recruitment and development
• Recruiting of committee members
• Attend to Board diversity to include age, gender, geographic make-up, and skill sets.
Operations Committee
The Operations Committee is responsible for:
• Exploring how United Way of Anderson County works with other local United Way's in developing regional community impact strategies
